CHANGING LIVES THROUGH BASIC HEALTH CARE
Project Margarita is guided by a vision of total human development through empowerment with health as a strategic point of project intervention. A distinctive feature of Project Margarita is its focus on beneficiary participation and respect for the cultural integrity of the Aeta tribes.
The project identifies three objectives:
1. MOBILIZATION AND ORGANIZATION of the Aeta communities to respond to their own health care needs.
2. SET UP OF A MATERNAL AND CHILD CARE delivery system patterned after the UNICEF program, for children aged 0 to 5 years old.
3. NETWORKING of the resulting people-managed health care system with other organized Indigenous health organizations, and the integration of the Aeta communities into the Philippine society. |
